I started down one road at university and soon took a turn down a less predictable one, 'knowing' to quote Robert Frost 'how way leads onto way' and loving that fact. Despite the fact that the name is spelled and pronounced differently, I found that when we told people we were headed to Parys for the day, they invariably asked 'in Europe?'. The small town of Parys is actually in the Free State, in South Africa's heartland.
