Why you should go on a photographic safari

The reason being is that the only way to spend time in the bush is by joining a photographic safari – even if you don’t take a single picture (go on – I dare you!). Sure, it may be slightly more expensive, but damn it’s worth every cent.

It’s the perfect blend of self-drive and guided ‘tourist’ tours (check out a range of photographic safaris on Getaway Adventures). You have all the freedom to go where you want to, with the luxury of knowlegable guides that will search for what you would like to see and spend more time with the wildlife once you’re there – even positioning yourself for the best angles.
The result: a vastly more intimate wildlife experience.

Here are some of the images I made while on a photographic safari in Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana. It was an extremely dry winter (I didn’t even see a single zebra), which meant plenty of easy pickings for the predators.

As tempting as it was to only spend time with our magnificent feline friends, Mashatu is famous for its sunken hide that offers up-close interactions with elephants, birds and other critters.

    So glad I was part of it – especially the cheetah chase. I can only recommend a trip up to Mashatu. Great photos, Dylan.

    Hi Dylan fotografie puik. Ons besoek elke Julie Sabi-Sands, Aratusha Private Lodge. Dit is die hoogte punt van die jaar. Ons is ook ‘n klomp fotograwe wat mekaar doof maak met die kliek-kliek!
