As you might have read (here) a while ago, My Destination’s Biggest Baddest Bucket List competition wants to send one person on a six-month trip around the world – all expenses paid. Doesn’t sound like a bad way to spend half of the year now does it?
Maybe some of you haven’t yet got around to entering because you don’t want to leave your hubby, your spouse, your best friend or (perhaps) your mom at home. Well, now if you win the grand prize, the guys at My Destination will be happy to pay the accommodation expenses of anyone that you want to take along on this trip of a lifetime. You can then use your $50 000 cash prize to pay for anything else that they might need. Problem solved.
You might also be of the opinion that the chances of becoming the grand prize winner are too small to go to all the trouble of entering. Well, now you can console those thoughts with these: all ten finalists will be going on a one-week, all-expenses paid trip to London before the final winner is announced. Apart from all that, there are also prizes for the top two local entries: either a Two Oceans helicopter flight over Cape Town for two people with Cape Town Helicopters, valued at R2800, or a half-day cycling safari at Buffelsfontein Private Game Reserve with Bike and Saddle, valued at R6000.

Shoot a video of your favourite destination. Include its best bits, its hidden bits, your favourite bits and all the bits that make it so incredible. Make your passion for this destination tangible. Don’t worry, you don’t need to have the best camera or cameraman, the resolution won’t count. What counts is your energy, creativity and how you present your destination to the world.
Tell the crowd about your most memorable travel experience. Make them laugh, make them cry or make them smarter – it doesn’t matter, just do it in 500 words or less.
To accompany your tale, you need three photos. If you don’t have them, re-enact the story. They should give your story that extra edge.
Entries close on 31 March 2013 entries close. That leaves you with just under a month to show the world your passion for travel, your enthusiasm for adventure and the awesome personality that you’ll be taking with you on a six-month trip around the globe.
If you’re still not amped (hard to believe) watch this video by Ben Southall, a guest judge and the winner of Best Job in the World.

A must see tip near my home town, J-Bay Die Watergat (waterfall) situated along the eastern road entrance to J-Bay is an exclusive hidden gem of tranquil lazy Sundays. It is situated on some farmers land hidden between rock hills and trees… Although it is slowly becoming popular amongst locals, it is defiantly a day trip worth embarking on, skottel towels and beers in hand. There are some cliff jumps available, ranging from a few metres to a whopping near 30m plunge into the warm waterfall pools. A fufi slide is also available for the faint hearted of heights and can enjoy the excitement of their peers at the same time..
It is secluded, with no contact details or advertising of the place, and only the adventurous daring will go out looking in hope to find this beauty of the Eastern Cape

Cape Town is blessed with an abundance of Bucket List destinations. If I had to choose one to share, it would probably be….phew….(scrolling through mountain, ocean, wine route, bo-kaap, cape point) shark cage diving as one of the most out-of-this-world things you can do round this part of the world.

Vic Falls has to be up there with great activies like bungi (all too famous after Aussie mishap), white water rafting, elephant back riding, Angel Falls helicopter flip, game drives, sunset cruises and more. All around the most stunning falls that leave you in awe. To top it is the efficient service.

Top of my list for Cape Town’s got to be a hike up Table Mountain – any early morning route up does the trick, but India Venster is a must-do for anyone who’s yet to do it. Finishing off with a swim at Clifton isn’t a bad idea either.

I’ve never yet been out of South Africa.. at 51, my first time destination would have to be Italy!! I would love to go over there and sit at a small coffee shop and just watch the people..
to go and explore the history and the countryside – visiting the winelands and discovering hidden beauties as well as the usual well-known sites.
This has been a long time dream of mine and I think.. it’s time!!!

In my video I recommend the internationally award-winning pizza from San Francisco’s Tony’s Pizza Napoletana.
This place is SO good that it snagged the best pizza in the world title from Italy right on its own turf in Naples. Boy, were the Italians angry when that happened. A lot of friendships broke that day.
…And I thought, MyBBB was fierce competition.

One of our favourite places in Bangkok is Rod Fai Vintage Market.
Walking around it feels like you have stepped back in time. Old Video Games, Vinyl Records, Toys from when we were kids and old vintage Rock shirts. This is a great place to spend a Saturday night. Live bands, Great food and great shopping. It is not over crowded like many other Markets in BKK and the prices are great as well.

Great post! My hometown is Atlanta, GA and the best place to eat southern food is by far OK Cafe: http://www.okcafe.com/. A cool place to check out is the Coke Museum (you can try different types of sodas from all over the world) and be sure to visit Underground Atlanta. There are all sorts of great shops, food, etc. and it has more than 100 years of history!
I also entered #mybbb and profiled Panama, so if you’d like more tips on Panama City, Isla Bastimentos, and San Blas feel free to check it out here: http://www.mydestination.com/users/rtwadventurer/bbb#tab

I don’t need an iPad because i’ve one but I’ll chip in with my two cents because I’m in love with the notion of visiting South Africa and will probably do that sometime this year whether or not I win the prize.
A great thing to do in Singapore? Bring a bottle of chilled wine, a picnic mat, a slackline and lots of sunscreen and take a ferry to the very deserted Sister’s Island off the coast of mainland Singapore.
I’m from Singapore but that wasn’t what my entry was about (not because it’s not interesting but because I’ve written enough about the place). I did my video on a recent unicycle trip to Maninjau which is possibly the most awesome way you can spend a weekend. Check it out (and drop me a vote) here:

Cape Town its gotta be a combo… little known one thats great is sunrise over False Bay, helping the guys pulling in the fishing nets at Fish Hoek beach.
Can’t go wrong with sunsets off Chapmans or the Fresnaye boulders, swims out to the bird colonies at Bakoven, Table Mountain dam missions…

A must do in my hometown, Les Arcs ski resort in France is to ride the gondola to the very top of the Aguille Rouuge, or rather what I like to call the ‘Top of the World’. I promise you, the views from up there are absolutely breathtaking, and you won’t be disappointed!

The place I live at the moment is Athens, Greece. A ‘must see’ is the street-art on display. It gives Banksy a run for his/her money! You could spend days wandering the streets of Psiri and Exarchia, and still not see all there is on display.
And The Art Foundation bar: come and enjoy a drink and take in an art exhibition whilst chilling out. Hidden in Monisteraki, you’d never know it was there!

We’re a military family, so we don’t have a “hometown” because we’re ALWAYS relocating – yikes. Our video entry was from our time stationed in Korea… so I’ll provide insider tips for Korea and for where we are stationed now (Fort Dix area). In Korea take the subway train everywhere, and save even more by purchasing reloadable card rather than a ticket every time you want to go somewhere. The subway trains are super easy/inexpensive and the reloadable cards don’t look like “cards.” They’re available in the many stores in the train stations and can look like anything from a tiny Hello Kitty to any other memorabilia!
As for Fort Dix, we’re located right outside of Pennsylvania and if you have kiddos… you MUST go to the Please Touch Museum (http://www.pleasetouchmuseum.org/), check out the the Liberty Mall (http://www.nps.gov/inde/liberty-bell-center.htm) and grab an authentic philly cheese stake!!!

The Cabot Trail, my home, a world-famous scenic highway, is renowned for its hiking trails, natural beauty, pristine beaches, diverse culture and some of the friendliest people in the world.
The island’s 300-kilometre Cabot Trail is often ranked among the world’s most spectacular drives. Even National Geographic recognized the Cabot Trail as being among the world’s “must-see places” of 2013.

Nashville, Tennessee! Visit Marathon Motor Works for a glimpse back in to Nashville of the 1900s, when the Marathon Motor Car ruled the street. You can walk through the halls of the old factory and get a feel for what the place used to look like while also checking out some of the new businesses which now make their home their. My favorite stops are Corsair Distillery where can try some local brewed spirits, Bang! Candy company where hand made marsh mellows will fulfill your sweet tooth and Antique Archaeology where you can look through some of the finds from the television show American Pickers.

If you want a great meal in Hong Kong, avoid the heavy commercial districts. My friend and I wandered around for 2 days striking out at second rate eateries that catered to the flock of unknowing tourists.
Our first good meal came at Mido Cafe. It’s on Temple Street near Yau Ma Tei Station. A quaint old style cafe with 2 floors and a menu of good eats. I strongly recommend the Roast Pork Noodle Soup and the Pineapple Bun. After 2 days of eating crap, that meal was some sort of a coming to Jesus moment. Mido Cafe, you will be missed.
You can get a glimpse of that meal in my video:

It’s the scene that’s on the thumbnail for the video.

Mt Baker is Bellingham, Washington’s must-see destination. Baker ski resort holds the world record for snowfall in a single season (30m in 1998-1999) and has world class skiing and snowboarding. Gorgeous hiking in the summer, too!
